I don’t think this is from all the rain we’ve had the last days. I’m guessing the flooding of the bogs for the harvest has begun. These are at the bogs just north of Bourne Farm.
Bourne Farm Pumpkin Day
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for the annual pumpkin day sale at Bourne Farm. Folks got there early to snag the best ones. Here are some pictures and videos from this morning:
Cranberry Sojourn
We don’t often see reflections in the bog, but this is the week for that. Some of you may recognize the Eldred name on the tank – there’s an Eldred Circle nearby, so I’m guessing the Eldreds were long-time locals and were connected to the cranberry bog in some way. Anyone know?
Bourne Farm Bogs Cranberry Harvest, 2017
Loud old engines, that’s Henry in the first machine. The cyclists were mesmerized, and most stopped to watch.
Bouncing Berries
After the berries are rounded up from the bog, they go into a chute to this truck, and they’re blasted with water to clean them and to separate out the occasional twig. I never saw this before.
