Joined about 180 others yesterday for the Main Street Mile in Falmouth, from The Quarterdeck, down Shore St. to the Beach House at Surf Drive. Such a family-friendly race! I definitely saw three year olds, and possibly some twos. For me it was a chance to run a race again, which I haven’t done since the Falmouth Road Race four years ago. Thanks to the Falmouth Track Club for organizing such a fun event!
Cranberry Bogs
Sign of the times, cranberry bogs being irrigated during this parched summer.
The Art “Shed” – The Art “Studio”
Diane Scotti‘s shed, “she” style, now her art studio.
Beach Yoga!
Chappy. Oh my, it was out of this world! Really windy, so the kite-surfers were flying, the waves crashing, a surfeit of sensations – sight, sound, smell. Glorious, is all I can say. So fortunate to live here and to be able to do stuff like this.
Class was led by Michele at Michele Netto Yoga, who teaches a variety of classes in and around Falmouth and Mashpee. Were the kite-surfers distracting? You betcha, and didn’t I love being distracted by them!
When Is Spring Not the Spring?
I hope you’ve been enjoying this run of nice weather! March was really lovely, and I got a lot of major re-landscaping done, which benefited from all the rains in April.
May has been prime for biking – not too hot, not too cold, just right! Whenever I can, I combine errands, work, and biking – it really makes everything so enjoyable. Biking to vote was a particular pleasure. I’m also biking when I have enough time to exercise class at 241 Fitness and to yoga at the new The Yoga Collaborative in North Falmouth. The one time I biked to an actual showing of one of my listings, honestly I practically heard angels singing.
With Memorial Day Weekend upon us, the season begins. This is not necessarily the real estate season, however. Traditionally, our season is February, March, and April, when people commit to finding a house for the summer. Each subsequent quarter is usually a little bit slower, culminating in the 4th quarter being the slowest. Meteorological spring is not real estate spring.
2015 was an anomaly, when the spring season was great and it accelerated from there. So my 4th quarter was probably the best I’ve ever had. My business did reflect the general market; Cape Cod real estate for the last year and a half has been robust. I sense things slowing down now, and we’ll see if we’ll settle into a more normal market.
