Holidays at Highfield – Day 1
The theme of Highfield Hall’s annual Christmas celebration this year is “A Sea Captain’s Christmas”. As imagined by the gifted Rita Pacheco, and assembled by her, her assistants, and the dedicated Highfield volunteers, it’s an exquisite presentation. Allow enough time to take in the vignettes, large, small, and subtle. You’ll be rewarded with the most interesting holiday display you might have ever seen. In your life! It’s fabulous – go, between November 23 and December 2.
Today and for the next 9 days, I’ll be posting some of the scenes that particularly drew my attention. Enjoy! But go, too!
Walking in the Woods, Thanksgiving Prep
Took a break from chopping and stirring yesterday morning to go on a Three Hundred Committee walk along the head of the Coonamessett River and the abandoned bogs, and along “Dutchman’s Ditch” – a man-made herring run – in the Matthew Souza conservation land.
Main Post Office Mural
Does anyone know anything about this interesting mural? I’ve heard it was painted as part of a WPA project in the 30’s, but I don’t know if that’s accurate. The painter’s name is visible, but no one at the post office today knew anything about the maker or the mural. It’s very cool, especially if it’s almost 90 years old!
Boston Meeting of the National Association of Realtors®
Been a commuter since last Wed., to join my colleagues from all over the world at the annual meeting. Am impressed anew with how smart and dedicated most of the practitioners are. My mind is racing with new ways to improve my own practice. I love my job!
