On a January morning last week, a cyclist has Main St. all to himself.
Jazz Stroll, Main St., Falmouth
The weather was nice, and the street and stores were filled with appreciative people enjoying another great experience in fabulous Falmouth this past weekend.
The Bill Taylor Trio
at Eight Cousins Bookstore.
Paul Weller and Mark Elsner entertaining a small crowd
at Puritan Clothing.
The fabulous Dawna Hammers Band
at The Black Dog.
Bastille Day on Main St. Falmouth
Just happened into the new Crepe Cod on Main St. in Falmouth for lunch today, not realizing it was Bastille Day. They were celebrating, and in addition to berets, t shirts and a special menu, two ladies from The Brazen Belles, a burlesque group, charmed us with Francophile songs. Take a look! (And if you like them, you can catch a full performance at the Cotuit Center for the Arts soon). Vive la France! And the Brazen Belles!
Real Estate Gems (Part 3)

38 Clowes Drive, Falmouth
$750,000
This is the first week on the market for this traditional Cape in Sippewissett Highlands, a sought-after neighborhood near hospital, downtown, and with private beach and tennis. The asking price of $750,000 may be on the high side for this 3-bedroom, 3-bath, 2,483 s.f. home, especially because there is a full flight of stairs to get into the house, and many of our buyers in this price range prefer one-level living, even if there are guest bedrooms upstairs. On the other hand, certain of the departments at the hospital (cardiology, for one) require that doctors live within ten minutes of the hospital. There’s not much else to choose from, so if there’s one doctor who either wants or has to be close to work, this home could sell quickly for probably a bit more than its value might otherwise indicate.

55 Pin Oak Way, Falmouth
$810,000
Last, but hardly least, is 55 Pin Oak Way, with 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, and 1,867 s.f. Another really sweet home, recently refurbished with charm and taste. If you’re not superstitious about abutting a cemetery, the views are (sorry!) peaceful. Location couldn’t be better – quiet road, path to Main Street in one direction, half mile to the beach in the other, and the bike path across the street. This is why it’s $810,000. Location and condition really do matter.
Real Estate Gems (Part 1)
Now on to some of the gems I’ve been seeing lately.
#21610155
144 Two Ponds Road, Falmouth
$849,900
My very favorite is 144 Two Ponds Road, near the hospital, Main Street, and beautiful Beebe Woods. This home is a pleasure – renovated with style and quality, it’s one of the rare ones that has everything right. The only reason a buyer might not snap it up is if it’s beyond the budget or if s/he wants a first-floor bedroom suite. Otherwise, this is a beauty! Take a look. As good as the last 5 minutes of “Property Brothers”!

84 Davisville Road, Falmouth
$399,000
This is also an appealing home, with 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths, and 1,544 s.f. It was gutted to the studs in 2009, and has all new you-name-its. Davisville Road gets some traffic, but it’s historic and very charming. There’s a sidewalk all the way to Menahaunt Beach, or CVS and East Falmouth Elementary School in the other direction.
