There’s something about seeing the Corwith Cramer docked in Woods Hole that always grabs my attention, and it’s not just because it’s the vessel that my daughter and her friend sailed on during their junior year in college. I think it’s because it’s such an anomaly in 2018 Woods Hole. And so lovely against a Woods Hole sunset.
The boat belongs to Sea Education Association, just down the road. Every few months a new group of students learn about sailing a ship by celestial navigation, and they design a research project they carry out while at sea. For some, sailing on the Corwith Cramer changes their lives. For the others, it’s an experience they remember warmly. For me, seeing the Cramer at anchor in the village – well, it’s just right.
