Going into this iconic building, welcoming the community for over a century, is always a pleasure. But for a few days in June, going up the walk sheltered by this gorgeous tree in bloom, is unforgettable. Lucky us!
West Falmouth Library House Tour
If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’ll know that I volunteer as a docent each December for the West Falmouth Library House Tour, and you’ve seen my photos and descriptions of some of the homes. This year, as most of you already know, my own home is on tour. The time has been changed to this coming Sunday, so visitors will be able to see gardens, and homeowners can avoid what can be bad weather in December. I’m primping and polishing, pruning and pinching, so that the house will be nothing less than stunning. (And asking myself why I agreed to do this!)
Please come by! Tickets are for sale this week at the library, and at various other locations around town – Eight Cousins Bookstore, Woods Hole Market, Uncle Bill’s Country Store, West Falmouth Market, New Wave Printing and Design, and Village Trading Company.
On Sunday, tickets will be on sale at the library, along with the brochure showing the homes and addresses, and describing the unique features of each property. Tour hours are 11:00am – 4:00pm.
West Falmouth Library House Tour
West Falmouth Library House Tour Sunday had lots of enthusiastic participants as always. I was a docent at 101 Old Dock Rd. Rita Pacheco staged it for the tour, with thoughtfulness and elan. A feast for the eyes and senses! Kudos to the committee and volunteers who work so hard to make this annual event such a success!
Looking out the window of the historic Mill House toward the ice-encrusted harbor, during the West Falmouth Library House Tour.
The historic Mill House on West Falmouth Harbor. In 19 years have probably driven by it a couple of thousand times, and had no clue how charming it was inside. Not much updating, and so very captivating!
This pianist was at the Wild Harbor Rd house. Musicians were at all the homes, the library and church. So many talented people in our community who share generously!
West Falmouth Library Expansion
The West Falmouth Library addition is well underway. It’s daunting to see the hill, recently so thickly wooded, bare and steep. The new space will be a welcome expansion to this vibrant library, truly the heart of the Village.

Westwind Cottage #2
$695,000
This is one of the last two new cottages for sale at Westwind in West Falmouth. Thoughtfully planned by Warren and Debi Dalton, and meticulously crafted by Pinsonneault Builders, this community is unique.
Westwind reminds me of a mews in England. It’s in the center of the village, with the West Falmouth Market on one side and the West Falmouth Library on the other; fresh and tasty breakfasts and lunches at the Village Cafe across the street, topped off with delectable ice cream at Eulinda’s; the bike path and private tennis just down the road; and Chapoquoit Beach an easy and very pretty mile away.
The cottage has charm and detail that’s just not found anyplace else. Everything about Westwind Cottages delights! Seeing it in person is so much better than reading about it!
It’s hard to find new; it’s harder to find well-located; and it’s hardest to find well-done. Westwind has them all! Please call me for your private tour.
